Global Stage Hollywood - a Los Angeles-based film festival - is pleased to announce the
the opening film of the 2023 version: A MAN starring Satoshi Tsumabuki, directed by Kei
Ishikawa is known internationally for GUKOROKU – TRACES OF SIN, and
LISTEN TO THE UNIVERSE. A MAN won eight awards, including Best Picture, Best
Director and Best Actor, at the 46th (2023) Japan Academy Film Prize.
Mystery surrounds Akutagawa Prize-winning author Keiichiro Hirano's same-named novel
about the source of human identity. Attorney Kido (Satoshi Tsumabuki) gets an unusual
request from Rie (Sakura Ando) to investigate the identity of her deceased husband
Daisuke.
Actor Satoshi Tsumabuki will attend Global Stage Hollywood in person Oct 6th, 2023 at the
TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood and attend a VIP reception party at JAPAN HOUSE Los
Angeles.
Tsumabuki starred in his first feature film leading role in WATER BOYS for which he won
Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role and Newcomer of the Year awards
at the 25th Japan Academy Film Prize. He has since gone on to win countless awards,
including the Japan Academy Film Prize’s Best Actor in a Leading Role for VILLAIN (2010,
directed by Sang-il LEE), Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Rage (2016, directed by
Sang-il LEE), Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for THE ASADAS
(2020, directed by Ryota NAKANO) and Best Actor in a Leading Role for A Man.
